The Case of the Prussian Serial Killer
The Case of the Prussian Serial Killer
News of the Times Episode 381 | 1862
1862 saw two major figures whose crimes went beyond nightmare: France’s Martin Dumollard and Prussia’s Karl Masch.
Prussia’s Karl Masch admitted to killing 13, although it was firmly believed by authorities at the time that his murder count was much higher. The killings were senseless and brutal. His preferred implement was an axe.
No age or gender impacted his murderous rampage. Like Dumollard, he was known to outrage his deceased victims. Maasch’s murder spree, with his brother and mother involved, went on for several years. Although he was suspected, he could not be found.
Then one day, some labourers on the way to work are caught in the rain. To minimise becoming so wet, they walk through woods and by chance, see Masch descending underground.
We take a look at the background, the crimes and the capture of Maasch and his family in today’s episode of the Case of the Prussian Serial Killer.
Hosted by Robin Coles.
